This series began as ink floating on water—an experiment in chance-made art. I rolled a pair of dice (literally) to determine the amount and color of ink as well as how much to interfere with the ink before ultimately pulling prints from the water’s surface with rice paper. Then, scanning and digitally manipulating each print allowed the me either to accept or to attempt to override what the dice had previously “decided” for me, resulting in digital prints meant to reveal dialogue between deliberate decisions and happenstance in the artmaking process.
